I Got the Last Laugh
I was best friends with this girl named Samantha for almost 14 years. We had grown up together and had literally been in every class together since preschool. Sam and I were more than friends, we were like sisters and that is why it hurt so bad for her to do what she did and felt so damn good for me to get my revenge. Sam had gone through an awkward stage in middle school. She had braces, wore reading glasses, and wasn’t very fashionable. We went to a small private school, so when we graduated and went to the main high school in our town, it was her opportunity to reinvent herself. The summer before we started school, she lost weight, had a total makeover, and came back hot! We both went in that first day looking and feeling great!
Skip ahead to junior year. Everyone knows us as the inseparable duo. We were voted best friends every year and we had both made a nice name for ourselves around school. I had been with my boyfriend for 9 months and I guess you could call it high school love. We were with each other every day, spent all of our time apart either talking on the phone or texting, and thought we were bound to be married one day.I had fallen hard for him and I thought he had felt the same way. One Saturday night, I get a call from a friend of mine names Liz. She tells me that she is at a party another one of our friends threw and Sam and my boyfriend had gone upstairs alone. It was funny because Sam was actually the one who had convinced me to stay home and study that night. I went over there, but by that time they had already come downstairs. People were coming up to me left and right whispering that they had hooked up upstairs. Sam and I ended up in a huge fight and my boyfriend called me a psycho jealous bitch, then told Sam to get in his car so that he could take her home. Yup, I got dumped for my best friend in front of everyone. That wasn’t even the worst part, it happened the next day when Sam called me to tell me that her and my now ex-boyfriend were going to make things official and she wanted to tell me first and make sure I was okay with it. I just hung up the phone and cried. Losing the boyfriend hurt, but losing my best friend destroyed me.

Okay, so where’s the revenge part? OP is leading on about getting the last laugh, but, like Belle said, she hangs up the phone and cries. Or, was the revenge pawning off a no-good boyfriend off on Sam? I don’t know.
Something is fishy in the state of Denmark with this story. I’m not altogether convinced Sam knew that OP was still dating this guy. Otherwise why would she call asking for OPs approval? It sounds like Sam could’ve been fed a b.s. line from the boyfriend. I also feel like there is some unspoken jealousy with this friend, but OP can’t admit it yet, especially since sam is now made out to look like she stole OPs boyfriend. Why put all the awkwardness in there about Sam beforehand unless OP was making it look as if she was planning this hostile takeover for quite some time. Lastly, why didn’t the OP just tell Sam what the F**K she was doing? If she’s supposedly such a great friend, then she should know that she is f**king up if she didn’t know it.
I believe I either smell a troll or this story needs some further explanation.
Oops, I meant, why didn’t the OP *ask* Sam what she was doing, because I would think a good friend would either know better or not realize she is f**king up. Either way, there is a miscommunication somewhere in the line.
I don’t see any revenge here either. So do tell, please.
But really the best revenge comes at the 10 year reunion, when you run into them and Sam has turned into a dumpy hausfrau with a gigantic ass, and your ex-boyfriend has become the loud-mouthed has-been with the beer-gut. They are miserable together but stay together for their 3 screaming demon-children. In the meanwhile, you have just gotten hotter and have a fabulous career.
Now THAT is revenge with out lowering yourself to their level!

OP- I have 2 words for you- Highschool Drama. Highschool is hormone saturated sinkhole of lies, drama, pretense and pressure. I am never surprised by the lows or highs committed in highschool.
Samantha showed her true colors before she had a chance to really hurt you in later life. Be thankful for that. She screws your short-time boyfriend…oh,well. Sucks, but you will get over it. She screws your husband, the father of your children…a much bigger deal with far-reaching implications for you and any additional family members.
Yeah. I want to show interest and support but I woke up at 1 AM, couldn’t fall back asleep, had to come to work at 5 am to a job that is causing me to have panic attacks and to top it off I’m looking at furloughs.

On a more interesting note (only to me) a 22 year old Marine wants to take me out on a date. Seeing how I’m 43…I’m thinking that’s pretty awesome. I totally won’t go. Because seriously. Gross. I could be his mom. But still. YAY ME!
