Trouble Came Knocking
So, I’m going to try to keep this short and sweet. Last year, I turned 18 and I moved 3 hours away to live with my mom. I had spent my high school years with my dad and step-mom because my mom has been in and out of my life since I was little. I had applied to universities that were closer to where she lived and she was so happy to have me move with her while I went to school. I figured it was a good way for us to really get to know each other and to rebuild our relationship. My first night there, she threw me a welcome party. There were tons of people there and lots of alcohol, supplied by my mother. My dad and step-mom had been pretty strict and I didn’t really drink or anything in high school. so I had my first drink with my mom, then another, and another. I was so wasted and so sick! The next morning she told me about this guy name Jesse who was all over me. She said that Jesse had told her that he thought I was hot and that he wanted to take me out some time. Next thing I know, there is a knock on the door and it is Jesse. My mom had secretly invited him over for brunch. We ate, talked and got to know each other. At my mom’s suggestion, we went out for lunch later. I felt kinda pushed into the whole thing, but it was nice to get to know people in the area…. Next thing I know Jesse is like living with us. He starts spending the night on the couch and partying all of the time with my mom. I wasn’t really interested in dating him but he was always there! He was very comfortable around the house too, and one day I came home from class and found him sleeping in my bed. When I woke him up, he tried grabbing all over me and getting me to lay down with him. At this point, I was just repulsed, so I talked to my mom later about making him move out. She outright refused to kick him out, like made a huge deal that I even asked. Then, she started up again with trying to push him on me. It became a nightmare. I couldn’t study or do anything without Jesse being right there. It was like I was in a bad relationship with him without actually wanting to commit to a relationship. My mother and I were having a drink one night and I guess I got drunk or something, but the next thing I know, I was waking up next to Jesse. I went straight to my mom’s room and was very upset. Again, she didn’t want to do anything about it. she told me that that was what college kids did. I called my dad in tears, and he came that day to move me back home. I ended up having to leave an awesome school because I didn’t even want to stay in the area. I found out later that the reason Jesse was given free reign over everything was because he was my mom’s drug supplier and gave her a break on the cost of his goods. As she had done my entire life, my mother proved once again that she couldn’t be counted on. I have talked to her maybe twice since then.

Now you see why parents who encourage drinking/drug use are not COOL parents. They do NOT love their kids. The parents who stop their kids from unhealthy behavior, or at least try, are the ones who love their kids. Let that be a lesson to all you young people. If your parents have no rules- it means they don’t care about you. Rules keep you safe.

Now, it is just you, but you are young and will someday have a family of your own. Do you want this vile creature having any kind of access to your future family?
Someday you will find a nice guy from a nice, normal family. His mother will see that you make her son happy, and she will swoop in and make you her new daughter. You will not only get a husband, but a new mother who is much better than the one you were born to. That’s what happened to me, anyways…

When your mom started all this mess you should have gotten out. When she let him move in with her 18 yr old, when she didnt try to protect you, and when she let him stay despite your feelings. There were so many red flags that you ignored.
