Family Talk Plan
I’d met up with this great girl two years after I’d gotten divorced from my ex-wife. She was what someone would consider ‘my type’. Into the same interests, on the same schedule, into everything I was. We hung out mostly at my place, due to me having cable and a large movie collection. We would go to her place when her roommates weren’t around, as they didn’t like that I was 6 years older than she was.
We dated for about three months, texts and calling all the time. I eventually added her onto my cell phone plan so we wouldn’t have to pay to talk to each other anymore. Things were great. One weekend, I got a call from her in the morning, and then nothing for the rest of the day. I thought she’d gotten busy at school and would get in touch with me later. I sent her a few texts asking her if she was OK. I called again the next morning, straight to voicemail. I was starting to get worried, so I went to the house she rented off-campus to see if she was there. Her roommate said in a vicious tone, “She’s not here. You want to talk to her, YOU get in touch with her. I’m not covering her ass anymore.” and slammed the door in my face. A little disconcerted, I contacted other friends of hers, who either hadn’t talked to her, or had, and weren’t “going to deal with it”.Three, Four days go by, I finally decide to look at her cell history, to see if she’s been using it. I see the same two numbers pop up for the last week almost fifty times a day, either texts or calls, and it’s four states away! I call the number, and talk to this young guy. I ask if he knows her, he says yeah, it’s his sister, and no, I can’t talk to her. I’m confused at this point.
I canceled the cell service about a week after talking to her brother, and didn’t know what to think. I started to get over her, gradually, and went about my life. Six months later, I left work and went to my new place (needed a change), only to see a note on my door from her. It detailed how she’d found out she was pregnant, that it wasn’t mine (we always practiced safely) but that she’d realized that she was in over her head anyhow. She asked me for forgiveness for leaving, but not that she wanted to come back. So, I forgave her. Not sure what she’s doing now, but life’s too short to stay mad at people.

I like your attitude about life.
What I don’t get in this story is the big deal about the age. Six years is nothing. In fact, if a guy was six years older then me I’d say he was too young for me. I’d much rather date a man 30+ years older then me.
I think it’s more likely that she made up the age difference as a reason her roommates didn’t like him because she was worried about them slipping and giving away her liaisons that were obviously occurring outside of their relationships. Cheaters make up stories to keep people in their lives apart so that they can compartmentalize.
