Waiting in the Wings
The other week, I logged into my facebook and I noticed that my boyfriend had been tagged in some girl’s pics. The album was titled “Happy Happy Birthday to Me!”, and there were tons of pics of my boyfriend hugged up with some girl at a party. In one of the pics, he was handing her a flower he had picked, and she was making a cutesy face at him. Some other girl had commented on the pic, saying “you guys are so cute together!” I was pissed, so I called him up and questioned him about the pictures and the girl. He told me that it was nothing; that he and his friends had met the girl and her friends at the party, and that he was just being nice because it was her birthday. He untagged himself from the photos, and we moved on from it. I didn’t fee like there was any reason not to trust him, so our relationship just went on as normal. Then, one night I sat down at his computer to check my email, and noticed that he was chatting in facebook to the same girl from the pictures. They were talking about their home towns, and he said that he wanted to take her on a tour of our city the next time she was around. Then he started to try and flirt via chat, acting shy and telling her things like “I thought you were so beautiful, and I was almost too scared to talk to you.” I couldn’t take it any more. I copied the chat and posted it as his facebook status, along with the question “does this make me sound too desperate?” Soon after, a bunch of people were commenting on it, including the girl, who left the comment “WTF? Why would you post that?!” By the time my boyfriend got back to his computer, the damage had been done. I waited around for him to discover it, and he went crazy when he finally did. He called me an immature child, and said it was pathetic of me to post their private chat. I told him that it was pathetic to try and creep around with other girls , when we were supposed to be in a serious relationship. He explained to me that he wasn’t trying to cheat, but that he had really liked the girl when he met her, and that he wanted to remain friends with her in case we broke up. What?! He was justifying himself trying to have some girl on standby?! It took all I had for me not to go off on him. He told me that I didn’t have to worry about any of it, because my posting his private chat was unforgivable and he wanted nothing to do with me.
