My boyfriend and I separated for the first time in two years this fall, when he left for college and I stayed behind to go to our local community college. I wanted to be able to pay for university myself, so I didn’t go away to school right away. Instead, I found a full time job and enrolled full time in junior college. As the semester went on, it seemed that my boyfriend was always out partying and drinking with his roommates, and never really had time for me anymore. Then, one day he calls me and says that he thinks that we have become too distant and that we needed to break up. I didn’t think our relationship was in such bad shape, so I really didn’t get why he wanted to break up. I asked him to at least explain why he didn’t think it was worth us staying together anymore. He replied, “it’s because I want a college girl, like a real one. I’m meeting girls from my school all of the time, but I can’t talk to them because you’re at home waiting on my call. I want to go out and party with her, go to a game and wear school sweatshirts, what are you going to wear, your work uniform or your city college sweater? I just need someone who is more my type. Sorry.â€

Wow, he’s a douche! You’re way better off now. Keep your head up. Once he’s done getting chlamydia and wearing school sweatshirts, you’ll be proudly, independently earning your own university degree.
Guy sounds like a jerk. you’re better off without him.
Cue to next year when he’s being expelled for failing grades and not making it to class.
He’s a giant douche. I think you will find more mature people out there who would respect the hard work you are doing.
